UrbanCompass app good for
Great navigation app that gets you where you need to go. The whole thing is really easy to use and nice looking too. Definitely worth it.
Ive used this app to find restaurants and bars in DC... Makes it extremely easy to find your way around areas you arent familiar with.
This app is super easy to use! Near or far from the familiar it always finds exactly what Im looking for & guides me straight to the front door. Ive tested in areas where Im a regular and it always finds my favorite restaurants/bars & from using it Ive even acquired a few new instant faves! This app provides the most useful info in an easy-to-use format & is always reliable and effective- I couldnt ask for more from a 99 cent app!!!
The update has made it even faster!! This is one of my all time favorite apps! Whenever Im looking for an unfarmiliar builing, or trying to find my favorite restaurant in a new city, this app literally guides the way! Its super precise and so helpful! Thank you for making this app, I would literally be lost without it!!!
Finally an app that just points me in the direction I need to go!
I just used it in downtown Philly to get to the closest Starbucks and it worked perfectly.
Its so easy to search for nearby food/bars/coffee/etc.
Good graphics with the compass/pointer over a map showing my location and destination.
Great app all around!
I just downloaded this so I could respond to clevelandDad and for future downloading into a new iphone. He said they should put somewhere in the description that you need the iphone 3GS for this app. Well, it does say right there under system requirements its for the 3GS or ipad only. I always read that usually before getting apps. I have the 3G iphone, not the 3GS but I will be getting the hopefully new version of the iphone after June and then I will be able to use this app if I so choose. I do kind of agree that for the people that dont pay close attention to the system requirements the developers should put at the top of the description in parenthesis that it only works for the 3GS or ipad when such is the case. I cant wait until the Developer Conference, June 7th-11th when they will perhaps announce an awesome new iphone, once again raising the bar for the others to try to surpass.
Some bad moments
...how this app provides any advantage over typing in the category of service youre looking for in the Google maps program and following the directions. The disadvantages include: no directions (just rely on map), and no ability to view the results on the map before choosing your destination to determine, e.g., which option is the closest to you, among others.
You might want to mention somewhere in the description of the app that it will not work with the iPhone 3g. Apparently, it requires the 3gs to function. I cant even install it on my 3g. Glad I didnt have to pay for it.
No matter what direction I turn my phone, the map displays upside down. Also, many of the local businesses are either missing or miscategorized, particularly in the Gas Station category. I have all kinds of businesses showing up there.
Have the 3GS with iOS4 and the map displays upside down every time. Not very helpful that way!!
Downloaded the app. Theres a Starbucks two blocks from my house. Looked for it. The app failed to find it, but instead was happy to tell me about the one .5 miles away in a totally different neighborhood. In addition, that Starbucks is on our local restaurant row, which the app is nearly entirely unaware of.
Otherwise, it seemed to work just fine on my iPhone 4. Yet, fail. Deleted the app. Needs a HUGE upgrade to be useful.
Whats the point to use this app to find a restaurant if there are no menus?
There are 100s of same crap apps out there. I cant believe morons who invested $8mil into this !!!
